Fine Art commissioned work (for illustration for books and graphic design click here)
If your interested in getting a painting created you must read this total page so you are not in for unexpected surprises.
I create Fine art of my own design and some of these works are available for purchase.
I am also available for commissioned work, portraits ( sorry I don't paint babies), landscapes, what ever.
But again I reserve the right as artist to make the final judgment. Regarding portraits. I paint what I see.
Portraits. I prefer to work with a live sitting, meaning the client takes time out to sit for the portrait in my studio for at least 2 sittings, one for initial drawings and the second to establish the work on canvas at least to the stage of finished under painting.
I only work from photos if no other method is possible. I prefer to take these photos myself, again if this is not possible then I require 8 x 10 inch quality photos supplied by you at your expense, at least 3, front view, side view and 3/4 view. Note that I will not use a pose presented to copy as is. I need 3 shots as indicated. I will compose the portrait myself, I don't copy any of the three photos as such I use them purely as reference. Please note that it is well worth your while to have the 3 shots taken professionally, I can not use happy snaps or the average photo taken with flash on the camera, these shots totally lack any modeling info as the front flash flattens everything. Shots in black and white are idea and much more useful then full color shots. I do however need one colour shot so I can match skin, hair and eye colour.
Payment method
50% up front payment .When completed I will send via email photos of the finished painting. The final painting on canvas(if its an oil painting)will be packaged and mailed to you as soon as the second half of the payment clears. Note that I only take cash or payment via Paypal, do not pay more then the agreed upon price and postage as I will not refund, There are too many scams on the internet where a buyer will pay with bad cheque with aditional money included to pay their shipper.
PLEASE NOTE
I will not deliver to your shipper, I will not pay your shipper, I will have nothing to do with your shipper, I will not accept overpayment with the idea being that I pay your shipper with the extra funds. There are simply too many ways for me to get done in this process so I simply will not deal this way. Please feel free to phone me or email me with any questions if its not clear, happy to explain it .
Prices
Pricing has no relationship to size, it relates to the style of work, materials and the estimated time to create the work, for example style influences the time taken to produce it.
However, discussing the price and any questions you have regarding a possible commission are welcome and free. I only charge if work commences.
No refund offered. Please look at my previous work and make the decision to have me create the work or not.
Medium, that will be discussed before any payment as will discussing a suitable pose and seeing the person or photos, If I feel I can not do justice to the work I will tell you before I start. Art will be produced with quality materials applied in a sound professional manner.
Some more explanation why I need total creative control. Creating art is much like a dance of the soul. It's not open to compromise. You may say fine if its a dance a dance can be choreographed, if so then so can a painting. Wrong, a work of art, dance or painting can never be choreographed, only a commercial production can, as in commercial art, a massive compromise, often reduced to little more then complete rubbish if modified by anyone other then an Art Director (Art Director meaning a very skilled artist of 20 years or more experience at producing actual art work for production, not the all too common today's art director that can't even draw).
Key word, Fine Art, never open to compromise. If you don't like my work don't ask me to do a painting, if you like my work I am sure I will produce a work you will be very happy with.
