A fairly simple drive by. The camera moves past the building but stays locked on it
This clip plays sound which carries on for some time after the clip has stopped animation.
So give it time to finish before you attempt to play it again.
This one uses Dynamics. An invisible ball is set up to collide with the Logo from behind, on hitting it the Logo shatters and the pieces fly according to Physics calculated which depend on collision speed, friction and gravity. The whole film is then played backwards to reconstruct the Logo and a new animation is added to show the incoming center logo. That's the basics of it. All very simple. How it looks depends on your lighting, timing and camera movement. Then you mix the sound and apply it making sure the moment of impact is spot on. All very simple but there is an unbelievable amount of work in setting up and repeat render after render to get what you think you want, it is simple but all the elements are quite critical get one out of time, a camera move to soon too late, wrong lighting or maybe no light , remember it is space, if you don't light it you will not see a thing.
Screen capture of the editing required to make it all work
Simple takes on a complicated look if your not familiar with sets. Green is for the 2 cameras that actually film the sequence just as if real cameras running at 25 frames a second. Purple is for the lights, Blue is both the logo and the smashing ball. At frame 59 the ball has already smashed the logo and Camera 1 (Camera on right ) moves back with the explosion and pans right to follow the shrapnel. Camera 2 does nothing, it will follow the movement of the red brown logo later as the disk tumbles into the logo. It does not matter if the disk is on set as long as it stays out of the field of Camera 1 , you could make the disk invisible. Cameras are invisible so no problems there. Gets very involved very quick. You need to be fascinated by it to do it and I am.
